Mrs. Nancy J. Harden
My dear companion,
After my best love to you, I can inform you that I am not well. I am now in the General Hospital in Savannah. I have got a very severe case of the measles, though I am not dangerous at all and I have all the attention that I could ask for. The physicians and nurses are very kind to me.
As much as I would like to see you, I do not think that it would be advisable for you to come here where they are so many contagious diseases as they are here.
They is a very good chance for me to get a furlough as soon as I get able to travel.
Nothing more at present.
I remain your affectionate husband until death.
Write soon.
W. H. Harden
